Cinema Art Theater This Week presents PEGGY GUGGENHEIM: ART ADDICT
The Cinema Art Theater of Rehoboth Beach Film Society presents PEGGY GUGGENHEIM: ART ADDICT, a feature documentary about the life of art icon Peggy Guggenheim. Screening times are 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on both Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, as well as 4:00 pm Sunday, May 22. (The Cinema Art Theater is located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.)
Based on Peggy Guggenheim’s sole authorized biography, this film centers on a recently unearthed 1978–1979 audio recording, the last interview of her life with biographer Jacqueline B. Weld. Excerpts are woven throughout the film, along with abundant archival photographs and films. Peggy Guggenheim was a colorful character who was not only ahead of her time but helped to define it. An heiress to her family fortune, she became a central figure in the modern art movement. Lisa Immordino Vreeland directs the film, which features interviews with various stars of the art world and reveals Peggy’s involvement with art and artists of the 20th century. In “The Detroit News,” Tom Long says “There’s an essential sweetness to ….Art Addict, despite its ribald tales and rich settings. Peggy Guggenheim simply loved art.” [2015, USA, Runtime: 97min., English, Not Rated.]
Admission for each of these screenings is $8 per film for members and $10 per film for future members. Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
