The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and CAMP Rehoboth will co-present TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL and PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL MONOGAMIST as part of its annual Another Take series during the Presidents Day weekend, February 13 – 14. Another Take is a gay and lesbian themed film series and will be held at Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth (MCC Rehoboth), 19369 Plantation Road, Rehoboth.
The series begins on Saturday, February 13, at 3:00 pm, with a screening of the award winning documentary, TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL. Throughout the 1950s Tab Hunter reigned as Hollywood’s ultimate male heartthrob and his good looks and sex appeal drove his fans into screaming frenzies. But the all American boy had a secret. Tab Hunter was gay, and spent his Hollywood years hiding a secret that could at any time destroy him. Narrated with rare film clips, provocative interviews, and unprecedented access to Tab himself, TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL traces the star’s rise to super-stardom, his secret life in a time when being openly gay was unthinkable, and his ultimate triumph when the limelight finally passed him by. Praised by “The Advocate” magazine as “one of the 10 Best LGBT docs of 2015”, David Friend of “Vanity Fair” calls it, “A savvy, rollicking, eye-popping film. Brave for its candor and enlightening for the social context it provides.” [2015, USA, Runtime: 90 minutes, Not Rated]
The series continues on Sunday, February 14th at 3:00 pm with the romantic comedy, PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL MONOGAMIST. When Elsie breaks up with her long-standing girlfriend to pursue another woman, she faces her mother’s disapproval, conflicting advice from friends, and the nagging suspicion that she may have made a big mistake. Smart, successful, and charming, Elsie is the perfect girlfriend; she also happens to be a serial monogamist, with a long history of broken hearts. Wonderfully shot in the urban city of Toronto, PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL MONOGAMIST invites audiences to see a cast of smart, funny and relatable characters, dealing with the universal complications of modern relationships. Not another coming out story, this is a fresh coming-of-middle-age romantic comedy. “Autostraddle.com” says, “One of the best-written lesbian movies I’ve ever seen. It’s incisive and very, very funny.” “Planetlondon.com” calls it, “A Fresh coming –of-age-rom-com – Four Stars!” [2015, USA, Runtime: 84 minutes, Not Rated]
