The Rehoboth Beach Film Society proudly presents Delmarva Connections, a three-part film series that explores connections to the region around us. The first event of the 2016 series takes place on Wednesday, January 20 at 7:00 pm with a screening of the heartwarming documentary, BATKID BEGINS: THE WISH HEARD AROUND THE WORLD at Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth (MCC Rehoboth), 19369 Plantation Road, Rehoboth. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Watch how the wish of a 5- year old boy fighting leukemia inspired a city, and thousands of volunteers, to come together to make his dream come true. The film takes you back to November 15, 2013, the day San Francisco was transformed into Gotham City and Myles into an adorable mini-caped crusader. More than a billion people took to the internet to cheer him on and the story of Miles Scott became one of the biggest feel good news stories ever. BATKID BEGINS: THE WISH HEARD AROUND THE WORLD explores how this massive event was put together and what happens when a story goes unintentionally viral. Says Kyle Smith of the NEW YORK POST, “The film isn’t really about young Miles (whose cancer is today in remission) but about all of us, about our bottomless capacity to do good and our shared love of little kids, big dreams, and Batman.” [2015, USA, Runtime: 87 minutes, Rated PG]
At the conclusion of the film, a representative from Make- A-Wish Mid-Atlantic will be present to discuss the organization and how they makes wishes a reality.
Admission for this event is $5 for adults and $3 for children twelve and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.rehobothfilm.com or by calling the Rehoboth Beach Film Society at 302.645.9095, ext. 1.
