REHOBOTH BEACH FILM SOCIETY HOSTS ENCORE SCREENING OF GOOD OL’ FREDA WITH SPECIAL GUESTS FREDA KELLY AND KATHY MCCABE.
For Beatles fans, this is a must attend event! The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is presenting an encore screening of “Good Ol’ Freda” at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive (Dartmouth Plaza behind the Lewes WAWA). This popular film was a two-time sell-out at the 2013 Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival. Both Freda Kelly, secretary for The Beatles, and Kathy McCabe, film producer, will be present to introduce the film and answer questions during a post-screening discussion.
Freda Kelly was a shy, Liverpudlian teenager when she was asked to work for a local band hoping to make it big. Though she had no concept of how far they would go, Freda had faith in The Beatles and The Beatles had faith in her. Hence, an 11-year association was born. Many people came in and out of the band's circle as they grew to international stardom, but Freda remained a constant because of her unfaltering loyalty and dedication.
As The Beatles' devoted secretary and friend, Freda was there as history unfolded. She witnessed the evolution of the greatest band in history, including the breakthroughs and challenges. Freda tells her stories for the first time in fifty years in one of the few documentaries with the support and blessings of the living Beatles. Featuring original Beatles’ music, the film offers an insider's perspective on the beloved band that changed the world of music. An incredibly insightful and rare look behind the scenes, “Good Ol’ Freda” is the all-access pass that Beatles fans (and novices alike) have been waiting for. [Dir. Ryan White, 2013, USA/UK, DCP, 86 mins.]
Filmmaker Magazine states the film is “A slyly humourous and insightful portrait…of a participant in one of popular culture’s most pivotal moments.”
