Rehoboth Beach Film Society kicks off this summer’s Cinema by the Canal, an outdoor film series for all ages, with a screening of “Despicable Me”. The screening will take place at dusk on Thursday, June 16, at the Lewes Canalfront Park, located at 211 Front St.
“There's nothing to despise and plenty to celebrate about “Despicable Me,’” says Claudia Puig of USA Today. Since villains are often more interesting than heroes, “Despicable Me” focuses on the evil mastermind, Gru. Hidden in his vast secret hideout and surrounded by a small army of minions, Gru is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon - yes, the moon! Gru, who delights in all things wicked, is armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, so he can vanquish all who stand in his way. However, he needs a little human help to assist him in his nefarious plan, so Gru adopts three little girls from the orphanage. They see in Gru what no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge, three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes. [2010, USA, Runtime: 95 min, Rated: PG]
The film will begin at dusk (8:15 - 8:30 pm) and is free to the public. All ages are welcome. Please bring chairs or blankets, and insect repellent. Come enjoy a unique and fun, family outdoor film experience. Cinema by the Canal will continue on July 21 with a screening of “Young Frankenstein”.
