It's All About You
Entries for The Coast Day Crab Cake Cook Off are due in by August 10th 2012: What Are You Gonna' Bring to The Table?
From Maryland Style to the Gulf Coast. From the Pacific Northwest to California, wherever there are crabs, there are crabcakes. And no matter how you look at it, just about everyone has their own special way of preparing them; from dashes and drops of this and that to their super special secret ingredient, they all have something that makes a crabcake uniquely their own. How about you?
If you do then here's your chance to let your culinary crab cake skills shine by signing up to be a part of this year's 23rd Annual Coast Day Crab Cake Cook Off. All entries are due in by August 10th so be sure to get yours in soon. Actually, the entry consideration process is something of a contest itself as only 8 recipes will be selected to compete for cash, prizes and most importantly, bragging rights on Sunday, October 7 2012 during Coast Day.To give yours the best possible chance to get selected, make sure it's an original, only submit one and be sure it's based on using two pounds of blue crab only crab meat. Oh, and just so you know, all recipes submissions become the property of the the University of Delaware Seagrant College Program and College of Earth, Ocean and Environment. After all, they're the ones sponsoring this whole thing and they might just want to reproduce and share some of the deliciousness with the crowd.
So, whose cake will have what it takes? Who knows? It could be yours so long as the judges think your crabcake has the best mix of originality and balance of crab meat taste and texture. Of course, none of this means anything if you don't sign up first so visit www.ceoe.udel.edu/coastday today for complete details, rules and application sheet. And for more info call 302.645.4346.
