Lewes Polar Bear Plunge Festival

The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge, which happens for the 21st year on Sunday, February 5th at 1pm in Rehoboth, has become more than just a quick dip in what is often times a freezing Atlantic Ocean; it's a multi-aged, ethnic, gender and great-spirited time when people come together to work towards a common goal which at its core, is to benefit the athletes of the Delaware Special Olympics. And so again, this year, like-minded, giving souls will be racing for the water to help the greater good...and to have a little fun.The kind of fun you can only have at tHe Lewes Polar Bear Plunge and Plunge Festival.

Growing every year since its first, The Plunge, while officially only on Sunday, has become a weekend long event featuring everything from a 5k walk and run in Rehoboth (the Run to The Plunge), to a restaurant Chili contest,  ice sculpting demonstration and new this year, a Polar Bear Cake-Off featuring contestants from TLC's Next Great Baker. There are also kids activities, the Apres Plunge Party and basically everything else the "Plunging Family" needs.
