You know, you just can't beat Sunday Brunch at
The Buttery in Lewes, Delaware; when you consider the taste and quality of the food, the service, the price, quite frankly, it becomes one of, if not
the best dining value anywhere at the beach. Now, some of you might not believe this, maybe because you always thought the Buttery was expensive but I can tell you from personal experience, it only
tastes expensive. Think about this: Sunday Brunch at The Buttery includes a beautiful fresh fruit plate, a basket full of wonderfully aromatic and tasty breads and pastry, a bloody mary or mimosa and a selection of delicious and unique main courses for you to choose from and it all costs only...well, forget the cost, we'll get to that later just know it's a very small amount; right now I want to talk about the food.
Remember the fruit plate? Well, this week ours had fresh strawberries, sweet pineapple, plump grapes and juicy cantaloupe and honeydew. Our bread and pastry basket included rich cannoli, a large powdered sugar and raisin scone, soft apple cinamon bread and a fresh baguette. This alone, along with our bloody's and mimosas would have been wonderful but, since we consider wonderful a stop on the way to outstanding, we added entrees of a Petit Fillet and Eggs Savannah (which are poached eggs with fresh crab florentine over English Muffins). And, just so you know, everything was excellent.
Also excellent was that certain intangible that very few restaurants give, that being total satisfaction. Yes, our food was great by any measure and to be sure a fantastic value, but to eat there for either or only these two reasons would mean that you'd missed out on the best part of a Buttery Brunch- how it makes you feel. For us, it's the anticipation of spending time together in the company of great food, atmosphere and service; it's our mini vacation; time off for good behavior; a well deserved promotion; the perfect punctuation to our weekend and one of life's ultimate personal treats. Will it mean the same thing for you? Probably not. But, I gaurantee it'll mean something special, something that will have you looking forward to doing it over and over again. And, at less than twenty dollars per person, you can do it as much as you like.
See you around town
