Get in touch with your universal soul, renew your spirit and let your inner musician flow this Saturday, November 7th with the Rehoboth Day of Drumming @ The Yoga Studio on Route 24 in Peddlers Village.
The course will feature two interactive workshops and be hosted and instructed by Jim Donovan, founding member of Rusted Root and award winning teacher.
The first course “The Rhythm Renewal Drumming Workshop” is scheduled from noon-2:30 and will introduce course students to African, Brazilian and Caribbean influenced rythm, song and chanting concepts. To punctuate the flavor of the mixed musical influence and culture, a potluck vegetarian lunch will immediately follow the first course with students bringing their favorite dish.
The second course, “The Yoga of Drum and Chant: Drumming and Meditation Workshop” which goes from 3:30-6:00 introduces students to rhythm, mantra and chant concepts and relaxation techniques from India, Tibet, Central Africa and the Caribbean. Students in both courses will have the opportunity to sample African drums, or "djembes" that Donovan will provide.
