Bonnie Sewell: Community Connections. If you're new to Casa Grande (that's Spanish for Big House), Bonnie is one of the first people you'll want to meet. Part of a local team of area representatives, Bonnie is dedicated to helping new area residents get to know more about the downtown metro area of Casa Grande and all it has to offer in the way of local businesses, public parks and recreation, health services, museums, libraries- even local department of motor vehicle registration. What's best about meeting Bonnie though, besides all the useful info, is her personal touch because she's all about helping you make a personal connection with your new town, neighbors and activities. Why, she might even have an invitation or two to local town meetings of clubs, civic organizations, art groups and more.

Art in The Alley

Car and Motorcycle Show in Hisotric Downtown Casa Grande This is a lot more than just a show and shine for hotd roads, custom cars, trucks and motorcycles (but it's great for that); it's been called a "great downtown social" with artists, poets, muscians and a great open mic session live on the "Alley Stage". Held the first Tuesday of each month September through June, Florence Street closes to all traffic and transforms into a vibrant and friendly street festival with live msuic, the car show, arts and local merchants and restaurants offering some of their best promotions.

Arts & Entertainment

Paramount Theater in Historic Downtown Casa Grande is "Promoting History & Promoting Fine Art" as a way to keep locals and visitors in touch with Arizona's colorful past and bright future. Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the Paramount is home to many great fundraisers, shows and events...more info at 520.836.1030.

Casa Grande Valley Historical Society Located at 110 West Florence Boulevard in Casa Grande, Arizona this is the place to  go to get a true historical perspective of what went into making Casa Grande (and still makes) Casa Grande the wonder it is today. Here you can learn about migrations through the dessert via Sally Zink photo essays, its fixture as a railroad stop and even about James Addison Reavis, Arizona's Baron...and Scoundrel. To learn more, call them at 520.836.2223.

Sports, Recreation and Activities

Pickleball, everyday @ 8a in November at Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort. Yes, you can golf there everyday too, but I'm lisiting pickleball here because it's such a fun and unusual sport, it's kind of like playing ping-pong only on a tennis or badminton court instead of a table top. Super easy to learn and enjoy by anyone of any age and any skill level, it can also be extremely fast-paced and competitive. To learn more about pickleball at Palm Creek, you can visit their site at palmcreekgolf.com or, if you're in the area, you can stop by in person, PCG&RV is located at 1110 North Hennes Rd, Casa Grande Az.

Eats, Treats, Food & Drink

I was born and bred on the east coast and where I'm from you don't just eat food, you savor it; Italian and seafood are my favorites. I'm happy to say I leave nothing behind when I'm out here in Casa Grande. Great Italian, delicious seafood and probably the best Mexican and Southwest inspired foods I've ever had. So here I am in Casa Grande: art town, historic town and food town and as I keep eating my way through it, I'll keep you posted on where and what some of my favorite places are and, if you have some favorites you think I should try, drop me a line and let me know.
